In 1988 I had purchased my first multi-track recorder. This was a Fostex 260 four track cassette recorder. I recorded alot of material and 8 of those songs later became the Progressive Elements record. The recordings sat on cassettes for years (13 years). Once I had purchased my digital recording system, I found time in 2001 to resurrect the original 4 track cassette recordings. I borrowed a friends Tascam four track cassette machine because the Fostex tape motor had failed by 2001. I did simple playback of the songs with the outputs pugged into the interface on the digital system and then had that basic songs to work with. I used the Korg Poly 61, the Kurzweil and some additional guitar work using my Stratocaster and my POD Line 6 amp modeler to enhance the songs. Essentially though, I didn't change the songs much. Songs 8 songs were compiled to make the Progressive Elements Record. These are basic instrumental rock songs in the vein of songs such as Satriani would record, but I'm not nearly as fast nor talented and others have drawn comparison with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. He certainly was an influence but I didn't plan the songs to sound like him nor Floyd. Concept No real concept here, just some rock and roll instrumentals. |
